The activities of using technologies, such as; computer, internet, and other telecommunications media(radio, TV, smart-phones) to communicate, create and disseminate, store and manage information in English language teaching and learning. Technology in ELT, casseless and recorder in ALM(1970) ICT in ELT(1990)

Actually, from time to time, the model and approach of learning has several changes. From paper form to digital form, from teacher center to student center. All of it has improved until now and here are the

ICT in integration in ELT

There are advantages and disadvantages in ICT

-          ICT provides more teaching-learning material resources for teachers and students

-          ICT increase students critical and creativity thinking and accommodate collaboration learning

-          ICT promotes an autonomous learning

-          ICT improves students and teacher digital literacy skills

-          ICT increase teachers and students positive attitude to technology application

-          ICT enhances students motivation in learning

-          ICT gives easiness and flexibility for long distance learning(remote teaching)

o   Low teachers knowledge and attitude toward ICT in ELT

o   Unmotivated students in autonomous learning

o   Insufficient policy and institutional

o   Incomplete facility and technological support of ICT

o   High cost maintenance.

Actually there are problem that still haven’t cured yet in ICT

-          ICT skills / literacy (lack of TPD/training in ICT)

-          Time management and allocation

-          Facility(internet access/technological tools)

-          Institutional support and policy

Here are some discussion we had during class to solve the problem in ICT

[11.16, 27/9/2022] Mbk Nurma: Teachers may join actively the training about ICT in ELT

[11.17, 27/9/2022] Aghnia Jihan S.A: For ICT Skills/Literacy, We Can make a workshop about ICT so the teachers Can improve the ICT literacy

[11.18, 27/9/2022] Raditya ade putra(Radit): 1. Make sure that the teachers in Indonesia havebeen taught/have been given a workshop to utilize technology in learning

2. Make sure that Indonesia has a good kemkominfo so that the technology tools are distributed equally.

[11.19, 27/9/2022] Mbk Nurma: Mam, does the terminology in ICT that has been discussed include of the approaches in ICT?

[11.20, 27/9/2022] Aghnia Jihan S.A: For time management and allocation, maybe the asosiasi guru/perkumpulan guru can meeting to share how they manage the time and allocation. So the teachers Can implement it in daily life

[11.21, 27/9/2022] +62 818-0305-3046: Yes. They sometimes use interchangeably

[11.22, 27/9/2022] Elfira: for facility, you can get everything ready for example you can choose cellular card or wifi with strong network, for technological tools u can prepare laptop or handphone, or if you don't have it you can use facility at that school.

[11.23, 27/9/2022] +62 818-0305-3046: Welldone students...I think this question is answered.

In short, ICT in ELT take an important part for teacher and student. Teacher should know about times and technological developments. So the teachers can implement it in learning process, for example use google classroom, LMS, and others. Even though there are a lot of advantage its also have disadvantage such as; lack of ICT literacy, high expense for maintenance, etc.

Resume meeting 1 ( 21st Century Education and Digital Literacy)

Resume meeting 1 ICT in ILT

21st Century Education and Digital Literacy

Dr. Gusti Nur Hafifah, M.Pd

Aghnia Jihan Savira Anjani_20201111037(student)

Society growth

Every day every year society grow. From hunting society to agrarian society, after a while become industrial society. Not long after that we’ve become information society where information can be obtained with minimal effort and now become super smart society. But we are now have not in 5.0 society, we still in the information society. Different with previous society that require lot of effort and man power to obtained information, transportation, and money for living.

So, what generation are you? And what generation is your student?

Many of our teachers or lecturers are X generation or Y Generation which means they lived traditional life but got influence from outside called technology, aside form traditional live before they have to catch the digital life and it is called digital immigrant. Different with us the students that they lectured we born with technology so we know what gadget is, what computer is, what laptop is, what internet is and other.

Digital evolution

Now the digital is divided into 3. There are web 1.0, web 2.0, and web 3.0 where web 2.0 is used today. In this web journey web 1.0 is slower than web 2.0 or 3,0. Why is that? Because in web 1.0 receive information passively rather than web 2.0 where internet has already strong to reach people in everywhere.

P21 Educational framework learning outcomes and support systems

There are 4 points. Creativity, media literacy, productivity and accountability, and the last is environmental literacy. The relation of these 4 point in teaching is 1. Teacher should be creative using technology to teach. 2. Use media literacy to create fun learning. 3. Even though its still viewed hard to collaborate technology and study material, teacher must be productive and accountability with technology. 4. Environment can create a good influence for teacher to make and calculate all of the relativity of technology and teaching.

The seven Cs-21st century lifelong skills.

Like in the title above, there are seven skills that should be mastered. Like critical thinking and doing (problem solving, research, analysis, project management, etc.), creativity (for new knowledge creation, “best fit” solution, etc.), collaboration (cooperation, compromise, consensus, community-building, etc.), cross-cultural understanding (across diverse ethnic, knowledge and organizational cultures,), communication (crafting messages and using media effectively.), computing (effectively use electronic information and knowledge tools.), career and learning self-reliance (managing change, lifelong learning and career redefinition.).

Digital literacy

Digital literacy is the ability to use digital technology communication tools, and/or networks to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, and create information in order to function in a knowledge society. As teacher we should know digital literacy. There are eight thing that teacher must have it or master it such as collaboration , creativity, communication and netiquette, finding and selecting information, digital culture, online safety skills, functional skills, and critical thinking and evaluation.

Are we digital literate teacher and student?

What digital literacy skills do we have? Why should we master digital literacy skills? How could we improve our digital competencies?

Based question above of course we have digital literacy but we have to master it so we can implement it to our teaching. We can improve our digital literacy by attend workshops and training that related to improving digital literacy.
